We have heard of honey all our lives as a good remedy for both health and skin related issues but, have you ever heard of PROPOLIS? Yes? No? No, right? When I was getting into K-Beauty,I did an extensive research for more than 5 months to select products and that is when I noticed that almost every Korean skincare brand that I came across, had a whole line of products dedicated to 'Propolis' and the skincare novice in me had absolutely no idea of such an ingredient. And, that is when I decided to hit up my best friend aka google to learn about propolis.
Propolis as stated by Wikipedia,
'is a resinous mixture that honey bees produce by mixing saliva and beeswax with exudate gathered from tree buds, sap flows, or other botanical sources. It is used as a sealant for unwanted open spaces in the hive'
Propolis, which is a natural antiseptic is used extensively in skincare because of its healing, sealing and skin soothing properties. Not only it is nourishing for the skin but it also helps people with acne prone skin to repair and clear up blemishes and acne scars.
Although there are a zillion products out there with propolis as main ingredient, there is one product that has been constantly on the spotlight for 'glowing' reasons and that is, the Lee Gee Haam Vita propolis ampoule. There have been so many splendid reviews about this tiny sized ampoule product, which is known mainly for the 'lit from within' glow it leaves your skin with and I have been wanting to try it for quite some time. So, when Daisy Skin Fix became the first company in India to officially launch Lee Gee Haam products, they offered to send me products from the 'Vita propolis' line for review and you bet I was as happy as a child with a new toy!
I have been using this ampoule and moisturizer for more than 2 months now and I am finally ready to discuss my thoughts on these two products with you all. Let's dive right into the review. Shall we?
Lee Gee Haam Vita Propolis ampoule:
For those of you who do not know what an ampoule is,
'It is a concentrated treatment targeted for specific skincare issues and has a higher concentration than a serum'.
Claims: "A multi-tasking glow creating ampoule formulated with 50% propolis extract, provides rich nourishment to the skin, while vitamin tree brightens up the dull skin tone, leaving it revitalized, radiant, and supple"
Ingredients: Propolis Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides Extract(Sea Buckthorn extract), Panthenol, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Niacinamide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethyl Ascorbyl Ether, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Bark/Twig Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Carbomer, Arginine, Spirodela Polyrrhiza Extract , Hydroxyethylcellulose, Dipotassium, Glycyrrhizate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Adenosine
Key Ingredients: 50% propolis (nourish), niacinamide (clarify and brighten), centella asiatica extract(heal),witch hazel (fight acne), Sea Buckthorn extract (revitalize), Rose water (anitinflammatory)
Scent and Consistency: It has a very mild honey mixed with slight citrus kinda scent, that is enjoyable to use. The consistency of this ampoule is thin and lightweight, which makes it easy to mix with other products and also gets absorbed quickly by skin.
How I use it: My favorite way to use this ampoule is by to mix 3 drops of it with the vita propolis cream. You can also mix it with a lightweight essence like the Cosrx snail 96 mucin power essence( FIDDY SNAILS,who is one of the first few beauty bloggers to spread K-Beauty in the west swears by this combo for that surreal glow).
However, I wouldn't recommend using this product on its own mainly for two reasons:
1. On its own,it might feel slightly greasy
2. It is a 15 ml sized product, which means using it on its own will make you run out of it sooner than you may like!
But above all, I think the effectiveness of this product shows up beautifully on skin only when mixed with another complimenting product like an essence or cream.
My experience with this product:
For me, the biggest expectation from this product was 'the glow', that everyone who used this ampoule were gushing about and I have to say that this one totally lived up to all that hype and it really does help a great deal in attaining that luminous, dewy skin. This ampoule came in as the answer to all my prayers for combating lackluster skin. Not only did it add an instant glow to my skin but I also felt that it helped in revitalizing my overall skin complexion. It is such a versatile product that can also be mixed with your foundation to add a bit of glow to your makeup.
As for the long term benefits with this ampoule, I can only say that my skin has not had even the occasional pimple that I get once in a month in the past two months. I am not sure if this product deserves the credit for that but, I just thought that I should mention it here as this ampoule and cream have been steady constants in my routine for the past two months. This ampoule does claim to help in evening out skin tone, but I personally haven't seen any results with that and cannot vouch for that.
This product would suit almost all skin types, even the ones with sensitive skin ( thanks to the healing and soothing properties of propolis ) except for those with oily skin, as I am afraid that it may add up to oily skin woes.
Rating: I would rate this product a 3.5/5 for revitalizing my dull complexion with a beautiful glow. It would have been a full 5/5, if only it was less expensive for a 15 ml bottle and helped with evening out skin tone as it claims!
Verdict: I am a big fan of healthy, luminous skin and this product is just about that! Although,it is not a holy grail product for me, I have really enjoyed the radiance by using this product and I love it enough to repurchase it.
Would I recommend it? Of course yes! If your budget fits, this is such a lovely product that you NEED IN YOUR LIFE if radiant and glowing skin is all that you ever wanted!

LEE GEE HAAM VITA PROPOLIS CREAM:
This cream came as the biggest surprise for me especially because I had little to no idea of its existence and tried it with no real expectations. But, this one really won me over with its results. Read on to find out how!
Claims: "A multi-tasking, glow-creating cream with 50% Propolis extract, which is naturally antioxidant and flavonoid rich. Provides an instant "gwang" (dewy glow in Korean) and revitalizes fatigued skin and improves fine lines. Formulated with Propolis extract and multi-vitamins, this cream hydrates, nourishes and brightens, while neutralizing the effect of skin-damaging free radicals. Suitable for all skin types"
Ingredients: Propolis Extract, Water, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Phenyl Trimethicone, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Niacinamide, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Dimethicone, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ethyl Ascorbyl Ether, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Salvia Hispanica Seed Extract, Momordica Charantia Fruit Extract, Rhus Semialata Gall Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Adenosine, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Acorus Gramineus Root/Stem Extract, Perilla Ocymoides Leaf Extract, Bixa Orellana Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate, Copolymer, Isohexadecane, Polysorbate 80, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance.
Key Ingredients: Propolis(nourish), Sea Buckthorn extract (revitalize),Camellia Japonica Seed Oil(emollient and antioxidants),Niacinamide(clarify and brighten)
Scent and Consistency: This cream smells pleasant like honey and has buttery smooth consistency, that makes it easy to glide on skin and is also soaked up by skin rapidly.
How I use it: As stated above, I use a pea sized amount of this cream with 3 drops of Lee gee haam ampoule both day and night.
My experience with this product: I have used a lot of moisturizers from different brands and all of those creams either made me look lifeless or like a greasy ball. Those didn't even serve the purpose of providing moisture to my skin. They all just sat on top of my skin without being drawn in by skin. This cream on the other hand, got sopped by my skin like a dream and that is when my love for this cream bloomed. It is super nourishing and moisturizes skin so well and there have been days where I have not used any other product and just relied on this 'ampoule + cream' duo and still had supple, moist skin. I have used it in both warm and cold temperatures and it has satiated my normal skin needs under different weather conditions. It is incredibly soothing and calms down the redness in skin. This moisturizer might suit many skin types, again except for those with oily skin.
What really blew me away about this product is that it is just a tub full of propolis and other vitamins based buttery goodness, that nourishes the skin deeply and revitalizes it! It is a pretty simple product, but it packs a punch while delivering moisture and giving skin that naturally 'gwang' (dewy in Korean) glow. I am actually very surprised that this product is not as famous as its counterpart ampoule. It truly deserves much more love and honestly, If I had to choose one between these two products, then I would definitely go with the cream over the ampoule, as it is both nourishing and also helps with the glow.
Rating: 5/5, because I absolutely ADORE this cream and everything about it.
Verdict: It is the best moisturizer I have ever used and it is also my current HOLY GRAIL moisturizer, that I will keep repurchasing forever!
